Meet Our Newest Volunteer: Kalina Kozarska

Kalina in meditation at the Ananda Marga Yoga Center in Gzira, Malta

Hello to all supporters of Proutist Universal Malta. My name is Kalina Kozarska and I was born in a picturesque mountain town of Bulgaria before moving to the United States with my family. Throughout my academic career my passion for literature has been evident, which is why I pursued a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Binghamton University. Apart from my love of literature, I have a deep appreciation for the fine arts. I pursued this interest by studying painting and sculpture as a minor degree at university. My creativity really flourished. After graduating from university, I received a master’s degree in adolescent education from St. John’s University which is conveniently located in New York City. The hustle bustle of the city is truly fascinating and energizing. Prior to arriving in Malta with my husband, I taught English literature to middle school pupils for 2 years.

Outside of my formal training, I have maintained a curiosity for spirituality and meditation for quite some time. My first encounter with yoga occurred in Bulgaria where my great aunt, a fervent practitioner, would often talk to me about the importance of yoga, meditation, and scriptural studies. Although I have been a regular practitioner of yoga and meditation, it was only recently that I decided to embark on a thrilling journey to India to study yoga and its deep philosophy. While in India, I received my 500 hour certification and am now certified to teach all those who are interested and willing. When I am not practicing on my own, I am learning from my teacher Dada at the Ananda Marga Yoga Center of Malta. Currently, I am volunteering with Proutist Universal Malta where I will offer yoga and English classes as well as upkeep our Facebook page and our website.
