The Progressive Utilisation Theory (PROUT) was introduced in 1959 by Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar. In this visionary plan for social and economic management, Sarkar proposed that material goods be commonly owned and distributed fairly to meet everyone’s basic needs. This would form the basis for an economy of producer and consumer cooperatives, small businesses, key-industries organised as public utilities.

PROUT is based on the outlook of moving together towards a higher consciousness. Humanity is one family, and it is our responsibility to safeguard and protect our kin. This is a spiritual worldview with strong social, economical and environmental implications. This Convention advocates progressive change for the wellbeing of all.
– Spirituality and Creativity
Intuitive practices lie at the core of the convention. Daily sessions of kiirtan (chanting) and meditation create a strong spiritual flow. For those who love chanting, every retreat brings the opportunity to learn new melodies and hear old melodies played in a new way. Talks on spirituality from teachers and experienced practitioners bring insight and inspiration, and cultural get-togethers offer a warm-hearted opportunity to enjoy the performances of our talented international community.
